How Arkansas treats out-of-state programs' clinicals
Arkansas's rules touch outside schools in two narrow places. Its prelicensure standards, 17 CAR Part 125, cover an out-of-state institution setting up a brand-new Arkansas program, which then needs a green light from the state's Division of Higher Education, approval at home and national accreditation. Part 123, the APRN program chapter, leans on national accreditation through deemed status.
A clinical-only placement by a school based elsewhere is not addressed by any published ASBN rule. Silence is not a sign-off, though, so have WilmU's Online Learning office, which fields state authorization questions, confirm before anyone books a site. Reduced practice and your preceptor
The American Association of Nurse Practitioners counts Arkansas among its reduced-practice states. An Arkansas NP needs a state-regulated physician agreement for at least one element of practice, and some medications are off limits without a physician protocol agreement. Every NP practice you consider therefore has a physician close at hand.

Little Rock, Northwest Arkansas and the border metros
About 778,000 people live in the metro the census calls Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway, Arkansas's largest, and Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers in the northwest is not far behind. Jonesboro serves the northeast, while the Fort Smith metro straddles the Oklahoma line. By name, the systems to know are UAMS Health, Arkansas Children's, two Little Rock systems (Baptist Health and CHI St. Vincent), and Mercy, headquartered in St. Louis, whose Arkansas hospitals are at Fort Smith and in the northwest corner.

Licensing for Arkansas clinicals
Arkansas's place in the current compact dates from January 19, 2018, and the Nurse Practice Act houses the compact in Title 17, Chapter 87. That Act exempts student practice only for programs the Arkansas Board approves. Plan instead by WilmU's rule, which pairs current CPR with RN licensure in the state hosting the clinical: an Arkansas license, or a multistate license from whichever compact state is home.

Is WilmU's PMHNP Graduate Certificate an option for an Arkansas resident?
Arkansas reads Meets for the post-master's PMHNP on WilmU's licensure table, just as it does for the MSN-FNP, BSN to DNP and DNP. That covers licensure education only. For practicums, plan on an Arkansas or multistate RN license, and talk with the PMHNP program's Assistant Chair before a search is built.
Must the Arkansas Board sign off before my clinical there?
No published ASBN rule requires a sign-off for clinical-only placements by schools based outside Arkansas. The Board's program rules deal with new programs established inside Arkansas and with APRN programs through national accreditation. Before you commit to a site, have WilmU's Online Learning office confirm where things stand.
Can I rely on Arkansas's student exemption instead of a license?
Arkansas's Nurse Practice Act exempts practice that is incidental to study, but the exemption is tied to programs holding Arkansas Board approval. WilmU's NP pages separately ask for RN licensure in each clinical's state, so the dependable path is an Arkansas license or your compact home state's multistate one. Unusual situations go to the NP Program Chair.
Which Arkansas health systems should I know about?
Five large names: UAMS Health, Arkansas Children's, Baptist Health, CHI St. Vincent and Mercy. Each has its own policy on visiting students, so count none as available to a WilmU student until the system confirms it. Independent practices across Little Rock, the northwest and Jonesboro widen the search considerably.
