What to put in your message
A handful of details lets your placement advisor begin searching instead of writing back with questions. The more of these your first message covers, the sooner the search has a shape:
- Your WilmU program and track, for example the MSN-FNP, the PMHNP Graduate Certificate or the DNP Leadership concentration
- The course the preceptor is for, such as
GRN 7121orGRN 8122, and the semester it runs - Your city and state, plus each state that has issued you an RN license, or a multistate privilege
- Any practices or clinicians already approached, so nobody is asked twice
- Limits on your schedule, such as the days you work or how far you can travel

When your practicum is close
If your course starts within weeks, or has already started, put that in the first line of your message along with the course start date. Urgent searches move to the front of the queue, and the need a preceptor fast guide lists steps worth taking alongside our search.

Preceptors and clinics
Clinicians interested in precepting a WilmU student can write to us here too. Share your license type and the state it is issued in, your practice focus and setting, and roughly how many hours you could take on in a semester. We reply with a student whose course fits your practice, never more than you have room for.

Questions only WilmU can answer
Some questions belong to Wilmington University rather than to us. Program rules, what the program handbook says about your practicum, and whether a given site fits your course belong with WilmU's program leadership: the NP Program Chair, the Assistant Chair who oversees your track, or the DNP Program Chair. Course details go to your course faculty, state authorization questions to the Online Learning office, and MyWilmU or Canvas trouble to the Wilmington University Help Desk.

Questions WilmU students ask
When will I hear back from the placement desk?
Messages land with the placement desk, and an advisor answers after reviewing your program and course. Messages that flag a practicum starting soon are read first. For a quicker back-and-forth, the chat button on any page reaches the same team.
What if I am unsure of my WilmU course number?
Your program and roughly how far along you are will do. Your advisor can place you in WilmU's sequence from there: the Family Practicums run GRN 7121 to GRN 7124, the PMHNP practicums GRN 7221 to GRN 7224, and DNP practice courses begin at GRN 8121 or GRN 9001.
Can I contact you before my WilmU practicums begin?
Yes, and early is better. WilmU schedules practicum experiences for the latter half of the program of study, so a conversation well ahead of that point, about where you live and which states your RN license covers, gives the later search a head start.
Can I reach out if WilmU faculty are already helping with my placement?
Yes. However your WilmU placement is being arranged, we can fill a specific gap: a backup option, a preceptor for a later practicum, or organizing a preceptor's details for your faculty. Tell us what is already in place so the work fits around it.
Should I include my RN license details?
List the states your RN license or multistate privilege covers; the license number itself can wait. WilmU ties clinicals to RN licensure for the state hosting the clinical, so those states mark out where a search can run. Your advisor asks for anything more when it is needed.
