Wilmington University's State Licensures by Program table has four nursing programs at Not Determined Yet for Louisiana: the online MSN-FNP, the BSN to DNP, and WilmU's two NP Graduate Certificates, FNP and PMHNP. The RN to BSN, MSN Leadership and DNP rows read Meets, WilmU's word for satisfying Louisiana's educational licensing requirements. Louisiana also wants Board approval, requested months ahead, before a school from another state runs clinicals there.

Not Determined Yet means WilmU has published no position either way for that program in Louisiana, and the table speaks to licensure preparation, not clinical location. Louisiana's approval rule for schools based elsewhere
Louisiana writes its process down in detail. Rule LAC 46:XLVII.3539 covers graduate as well as undergraduate nursing programs run from outside the state, and it requires the State Board of Nursing to sign off before any Louisiana course or rotation. The request lists each agency and unit the school intends to use and comes with a thick packet on its courses, faculty and exam outcomes, at least half a year before students begin.
To qualify, the school needs its home board's approval, accreditation from a regional body and a national nursing accreditor that Louisiana recognizes. An approval lasts a maximum of three years; renewing it takes a petition. Graduate students then appear on the Board's spreadsheet of clinical experiences, filed no later than fourteen days into each one.
Supervision rules travel with the approval. Every week, faculty confer with both student and preceptor, and once each semester or quarter they visit the site. In a Board-approved preceptorship the ceiling is nine APRN students for each faculty member on any clinical day. Faculty who teach inside Louisiana hold a Louisiana nursing license and a master's or higher in nursing, with two years of hands-on clinical work behind them.
Practice setting and where NP students look
AANP files Louisiana under reduced practice. Put simply, a state-regulated collaborative agreement with a physician governs some part of what each NP does, so any Louisiana NP who precepts you works inside that kind of arrangement.
New Orleans-Metairie and Baton Rouge are close in size, at roughly 971,000 and 889,000 people, and Lafayette and the Shreveport area follow. Licensing for Louisiana clinicals
Louisiana's membership in the Nurse Licensure Compact dates to July 2019. A Louisiana RN license covers training there, and a compact-state multistate license does as well. The APRN Compact, still waiting for enough states to switch it on, has not been adopted in Louisiana, so NP licensure after graduation is a Louisiana application of its own. Practical nurses answer to a separate board there, which leaves RN and APRN questions with the State Board of Nursing.

Can I take WilmU's online FNP program while living in Louisiana?
The licensure table gives no answer yet: the MSN-FNP and the FNP Graduate Certificate both read Not Determined Yet for Louisiana. Before you apply, ask the NP Program Chair and WilmU's Online Learning staff for a current position, and whether WilmU holds Louisiana Board approval for clinical experiences in the state.
Does the WilmU DNP meet Louisiana's requirements?
Yes. On WilmU's table the DNP is marked Meets for Louisiana; it is the BSN to DNP, which begins with NP coursework, that remains open. Practice hours or a DNP Project inside Louisiana still sit under the Board's rule for programs run from another state, so raise it with the DNP Program Chair early.
How far ahead does Louisiana want an out-of-state program's request?
Half a year at minimum before the course or clinical experience starts, with the clinical agencies and units spelled out. A granted approval covers up to three years. Graduate students are then reported on the Board's clinical experience spreadsheet within fourteen days of each experience starting, so dates matter throughout.
Which RN license works for a Louisiana clinical?
Louisiana sits inside the Nurse Licensure Compact, so a Louisiana license and a compact multistate license both give you the privilege to practice there.
