These terms apply when you use this site or ask Wilmington Preceptor to help with a clinical placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your WilmU program's own requirements.

The service
Wilmington Preceptor is an independent placement service for Wilmington University nursing students. We search for preceptors and clinical settings that fit a student's WilmU course, organize the preceptor details a student's WilmU faculty review (the preceptor's license, credentials and contact information), and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
Wilmington University does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official WilmU statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Wilmington Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
WilmU's role and final approval
WilmU faculty have the final word on every preceptor and clinical setting, and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences sets the clinical credentialing clearance you complete before a clinical course. WilmU's program handbook, catalog, syllabi and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from WilmU's current requirements, WilmU's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and setting for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that WilmU will approve a preceptor or setting we identify, that a facility agreement will be in place by a particular date, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and agencies make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after WilmU's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting WilmU's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- completing WilmU's clinical credentialing clearance, including the background check and drug screen through the College's designated credentialing system, and keeping every item current;
- holding RN licensure for the state in which your clinical experience occurs, and current CPR certification;
- completing background checks, drug screens, immunizations and any agency requirements before patient contact;
- submitting whatever your WilmU course asks for about your preceptor and site by the date your faculty set, and starting hours only when WilmU allows;
- staying in contact with your course faculty, the program chair for your track and the College;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical agency or other third party, and WilmU's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. WilmU places the fees for the background check, the drug screen and the credentialing system on the student, and some courses carry their own fees.

Our guides summarize WilmU's public program and curriculum pages, its graduate catalog, College policies and the State Licensures by Program page as of the date shown on each page. They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and WilmU's rules can change. Check the program handbook, your course faculty and the program chair for your track before relying on any detail.
Communications
Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your inquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Wilmington Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of WilmU, a preceptor or a clinical agency, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.
