Not Determined Yet leaves the question with WilmU: it is not a refusal, and it is not an approval. Admission and clinical sites fall outside what the table covers. What Idaho's rules say about clinicals
Idaho's rules say less on this than many states' do. Nursing oversight belongs to a Board housed in the state's DOPL licensing agency, and it approves nursing education offered in Idaho, yet neither the Board's rules nor the nursing statute has a clause aimed at clinical placements by schools based elsewhere. The Board's web page for out-of-state and online programs just sends those schools to its licensing staff.
Two provisions still help an APRN student. One Idaho rule covers APRN students directly: an RN holding Idaho licensure or a compact privilege, and enrolled in an APRN program with national accreditation, may practice at the APRN level where the curriculum calls for it. The nursing statute separately excuses students of approved programs from licensure while they perform tasks that belong to their formal instruction.
The Board's April 2024 education policy sets the preceptor bar: preceptors in any Idaho nursing program carry a license at least as high as the one the student will earn. Faculty teaching nursing courses carry an Idaho RN license, and an Idaho APRN license is expected of whoever mainly teaches the APRN role and population content. Practice and where NP students look in Idaho
AANP rates Idaho full practice. Boise's metro, near 864,000 people, dwarfs the others; Coeur d'Alene is second, then Idaho Falls and Twin Falls. St. Luke's Health System is one of the major systems, alongside Saint Alphonsus and Kootenai Health of Coeur d'Alene. Consider them examples of the places Idaho NP students search; taking any student is each system's own call.
Licensing for Idaho clinicals
Since early 2018 Idaho has recognized compact licenses, and a compact state's multistate RN license supplies the practice privilege Idaho's APRN student rule refers to. WilmU's own NP condition, a license for the clinical's state, sits on top; see our RN license for clinicals guide.
On the APRN side, Idaho has passed no compact law, and the APRN Compact is dormant everywhere for now, so NP licensure after graduation would be an Idaho application.

Questions WilmU students ask
Can I enroll in a WilmU nursing program from Idaho?
WilmU's licensure table does not settle it. All seven nursing programs read Not Determined Yet for Idaho, and the table says nothing about admission itself. Write to Online Learning and to the chair of your program for WilmU's current position, and read Idaho's listing in NC-SARA's licensure directory, which WilmU's catalog points applicants toward.
Does Idaho have a rule for clinicals run by schools from other states?
Idaho's nursing rules and statute contain no provision written specifically for clinical placements by schools from other states. The Board's page for out-of-state and online programs sends those schools to its licensing staff for requirements, so ask WilmU's Online Learning office what Idaho has told it.
Who can precept an NP student in Idaho?
Idaho's Board policy from April 2024 says preceptors in every nursing program hold a license at least as high as the one their student is working toward. When we match a WilmU student, we also check each candidate against Delaware's standard, which calls for an advanced practice nurse, PA, pharmacist or physician whose active license carries no restrictions and whose practice focus is comparable to the course.
Is Idaho a compact state for nurses?
For RNs, yes. A compact multistate license has been valid in Idaho since early 2018. For APRNs, no. Idaho is outside the APRN Compact, which still lacks the seven states it needs before it can start, so an Idaho APRN license remains a separate application.
