Wilmington University nursing and Wyoming
Wyoming is one of two states where Wilmington University has determined none of its nursing programs: on WilmU's State Licensures by Program table, the MSN-FNP, the PMHNP and FNP Graduate Certificates, the BSN to DNP, the DNP, MSN Leadership and the RN to BSN all read Not Determined Yet. No Wyoming row says Meets. For clinicals, Wyoming asks graduate programs from other states for written notice rather than Board approval.

An open row is WilmU's to resolve. It bars no one and clears no one; it means WilmU has not published a licensure determination for Wyoming, and the table is silent on admission and on clinical location. A Wyoming nurse, or one relocating there, should write to WilmU's Online Learning office and to the chair of the intended program before applying. Idaho shares the same all-open status, and the licensure table guide lists every other state.
Wyoming's rule for graduate clinicals from other states
Wyoming sorts programs by level. The State Board of Nursing's Chapter 6 rules let post-licensure programs from other states, a group that takes in APRN, DNP, MSN and RN to BSN education, run clinicals without Board approval. The trade is paperwork: the program writes to the Board whenever it sends a student into clinical learning in Wyoming, using a model cover letter the Board provides.
Two more pieces complete the picture. Programs from elsewhere also need a registration with the state's Department of Education or NC-SARA approval, and WilmU is an NC-SARA participant through Delaware. Before any rotation, the program and the facility put a contract in writing, with a copy kept for the Board; our affiliation agreement page explains why health systems put that document first.
Pre-licensure programs face a stricter path, with Board permission and Wyoming-licensed faculty and preceptors, but WilmU offers no pre-licensure nursing program.
Practice and where NP students look in Wyoming
AANP rates Wyoming full practice. Population centers are small: the Cheyenne metro has about 103,000 residents, Casper's is near 81,000, and Gillette's smaller area sits around 48,000.
Hospitals worth knowing include Cheyenne Regional, the Banner Health hospital in Casper, Campbell County Health in Gillette, Ivinson Memorial in Laramie, which is affiliated with UCHealth, and Sheridan Memorial. We name them only as examples of where NP students look; each decides for itself which students it takes.
Licensing for Wyoming clinicals
Wyoming's compact membership for RNs dates to January 2018, and a multistate RN license from any fellow member state therefore carries the privilege to practice there. Whether WilmU treats that as meeting its NP license condition is worth confirming with your faculty; the rule itself is unpacked on our RN license for clinicals page.
On advanced practice, Wyoming has gone further than most states: it has written the APRN Compact into its statutes, one of five states, Delaware included, to do so. The compact starts only once seven states have enacted it, so for now NP licensure in Wyoming is a Wyoming Board application.

Questions WilmU students ask
Does any WilmU nursing program meet Wyoming's licensing requirements?
WilmU's table does not say so for any of them. All seven nursing programs, the RN to BSN and the DNP included, read Not Determined Yet for Wyoming. That leaves an open question, so get a current position from the chair of your intended program, and from Online Learning, before you apply or move.
Does Wyoming's Board approve out-of-state APRN programs?
Not for post-licensure programs. Chapter 6 lets visiting APRN, DNP, MSN and RN to BSN programs proceed without the Board's approval. In its place, the program notifies the Board in writing about each student's Wyoming clinical and puts a facility contract in writing before the rotation begins.
Is Wyoming in the APRN Compact?
Wyoming has enacted the APRN Compact in Title 33 of its statutes, alongside Delaware, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah. Seven enacting states are needed before the compact switches on, so for now an NP license in Wyoming comes from the Wyoming State Board of Nursing.
What RN license covers a Wyoming clinical?
Either a Wyoming RN license or a multistate one from a Nurse Licensure Compact state gives you practice privileges in Wyoming. WilmU's NP pages phrase their rule as "registered nurse licensure for the state in which the clinical experience occurs," so ask your course faculty whether a multistate license satisfies it for a Wyoming site.
