What WilmU's table says about North Carolina
WilmU uses Meets to say a program's education lines up with what North Carolina expects of a future licensee. The table is about licensure, it does not map clinical sites, and it shows no date of last review, which is why our explainer on the table suggests checking it again near your start.

The NC Board and graduate clinicals from Delaware
The rule cited most often, 21 NCAC 36 .0233, concerns visiting students who are still working toward a first nursing license, and it puts the paperwork on the host agency's chief nurse a month or more before the rotation. A WilmU NP student is already an RN, so that rule is not the one to plan around. The Board's education FAQ goes further: RN to BSN, master's and doctoral programs sit outside its authority, whether they are based in Raleigh or in New Castle.
What the FAQ does ask of graduate students is narrow. A master's or doctoral student licensed neither by North Carolina nor through a multistate license contacts the Board's Licensure Department to learn the requirements for clinicals in the state. The Board also points out that North Carolina entered SARA in mid-2016, and that SARA membership can open the door to in-state field placements for students of member colleges. Restricted practice and your preceptor
North Carolina sits in AANP's restricted column. Every North Carolina NP practices under a physician agreement that never phases out, and a Joint Subcommittee with members from the nursing and medical boards oversees NP licenses. The nurse practitioner who takes you for GRN 7122 therefore works inside a physician relationship the state requires.

Where NP students look in North Carolina
Five systems are the usual starting points. Atrium Health, based in Charlotte and now part of Advocate Health, is one; Novant Health, Duke Health, ECU Health and UNC Health are the others. Read a system's own student pages before you count on it, since each writes its own rules.
Charlotte's metro is the largest in the state by a wide margin and spills into South Carolina. Raleigh-Cary ranks second; Greensboro-High Point and Winston-Salem each top 700,000 residents, a sizable market for a WilmU student living in either one.

Questions WilmU students ask
Is there a North Carolina approval step before my WilmU NP clinicals?
Not from the Board of Nursing for the program itself: it leaves graduate programs, in-state or visiting, outside its approval system, and its visiting-program rule is for pre-licensure students. Students whose RN license covers only some other state get their requirements from the Board's Licensure Department. Anything WilmU-side goes to the Online Learning office.
Can a physician precept my WilmU FNP course in North Carolina?
Yes, under the Delaware Board's rule that WilmU works within: physicians are on its list of APRN program preceptors, with APRNs, PAs and pharmacists, provided the license is in good order and the practice focus is comparable. WilmU faculty approve each preceptor, so share the clinician's details early.
Is WilmU's PMHNP certificate an option for a North Carolina resident?
North Carolina's row for the post-master's PMHNP says Meets. Its clinicals follow the psychiatric sequence from GRN 7221 to GRN 7224, and the RN license rule applies at each site. Ask the Assistant Chair for the PMHNP program about your plans before you commit to a start.
Does North Carolina's restricted practice law affect my own NP license later?
It shapes the practice you step into after WilmU. The physician agreement you would sign as a North Carolina NP does not expire with experience, and NP licenses there pass through a joint nursing and medical subcommittee. WilmU's Meets entry covers whether your education fits the state, while the practice terms are North Carolina's own.
