MyWilmU Degree Works and the Admissions Portal

MyWilmU Degree Works is where WilmU's nursing curriculum pages send students for course plans. For an NP student it is the fastest way to see which term holds your first practicum, because each practicum sits behind a set of prerequisite GRN courses and your plan shows where those fall. The Admissions Portal is the system WilmU's graduate nursing admission pages name for applicants. Once you are admitted, the day-to-day work moves to MyWilmU and Canvas.

If a plan in Degree Works looks different from what you expected, raise it with your advisor before registration opens. A practicum that shifts by a term changes when a preceptor needs to be ready, and it is far easier to plan a search around a known term than to rebuild one after the fact.

Getting help: the Help Desk and Online Learning

The Wilmington University Help Desk handles Canvas and technology problems by email, phone or chat, and it is open every day of the week, with evening hours on weekdays and shorter weekend hours. If a Canvas problem stands between you and a clinical deadline, such as a document your course faculty want before a practicum opens, report it to the Help Desk at once and tell your faculty what happened.

The Online Learning office, which WilmU also calls its Online Learning and Educational Technology team, runs an interactive Canvas orientation, publishes Canvas resources and offers Online Live courses that meet on Zoom at set weekly times. It is also the office that answers state authorization questions, which makes it a key contact for anyone studying from outside Delaware; see NC-SARA and out-of-state clinicals.

What WilmU's public pages leave out

Two systems NP students ask about are not named on WilmU's public pages: the one used to log clinical hours and evaluations, and the vendor behind the College's designated credentialing system for background checks and drug screens. Your course faculty, the program handbook and the NP Program Chair will tell you what to use once you are enrolled.

Health systems may add a system of their own. ChristianaCare, Bayhealth and Beebe Healthcare each name Clinician Nexus on their own pages for student clinical onboarding, separate from anything WilmU runs.
