Because Florida's Board approves prelicensure programs, not graduate ones, the questions that shape a WilmU NP student's plan are practical: your license, the physician protocols behind NP practice in Florida, and which of its very large metros to search.

Florida's status on WilmU's table
In Florida, WilmU's seven nursing rows all read Meets Educational Licensing Requirements, for MSN Leadership, the RN to BSN, the MSN-FNP, the FNP and PMHNP Graduate Certificates, BSN to DNP and the DNP. It is a statement about the education behind a Florida license. Clinical sites are not its subject, and no update date is printed.

Florida's rule for out-of-state programs
Florida's approval law, s. 464.019, F.S., speaks to schools seeking to run prelicensure nursing programs on Florida soil, and the Board frames its own approval role the same way. For a graduate program headquartered in another state that sends a student to a Florida site, neither source sets an approval or notice step.
What remains is WilmU's own commitment, as an NC-SARA participant approved by Delaware, to follow state rules for field experiences beyond Delaware, set out in our NC-SARA guide, along with each Florida facility's own student requirements. Before a site is booked, have WilmU's Online Learning office confirm nothing has changed.
Restricted practice and Florida preceptors
The American Association of Nurse Practitioners files Florida as restricted. Some Florida NPs keep a physician protocol in place for as long as they practice, though exemptions exist in some cases. In a protocol practice an NP and a physician are linked, and both may be worth approaching.
WilmU's home board in Delaware allows APRN program preceptors from four professions (APRN, physician, PA, pharmacist) when the license is active, unencumbered and in a comparable focus, issued where the precepting happens, which here means Florida. Florida's TEACH Funding Program pays qualified facilities for the clinical training of APRN and nursing students, subject to appropriation. Eligible sites range from FQHCs to a rural health clinic or a community mental health center. The money follows students of accredited programs based in Florida only, so a WilmU placement brings a site none of it.
Four large metros and the systems in them
Florida's metros are big. Greater Miami, with Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, counts nearly 6.4 million people; the Tampa Bay metro holds about 3.4 million, metro Orlando close to 3 million, and the Jacksonville area roughly 1.8 million. Systems with wide reach include AdventHealth (headquartered in Florida), UF Health from the University of Florida, BayCare Health System, Baptist Health South Florida, and HCA Florida Healthcare.
A large metro means plenty of practices to approach. Every system still writes its own terms for students from outside schools, so read these names as landmarks, not hosts.
Your Florida RN license
Florida's membership in the current compact took effect January 19, 2018. WilmU's NP clinical courses ask for current CPR and RN licensure wherever the clinical is held, which in Florida means a Florida license or a multistate license with your compact home state behind it. Florida is not an APRN Compact state, so advanced practice licensure there goes through Florida's own process; the RN license guide covers the clinical side.

Questions WilmU students ask
Can I complete WilmU's FNP Graduate Certificate from Florida?
WilmU's table lists the post-master's FNP as Meets for Florida, as it does every other WilmU nursing program. For the four Family Practicum courses, plan on a Florida or multistate RN license, current CPR and preceptors licensed in Florida, and run the plan past WilmU's Online Learning office and the Assistant Chair for the FNP program.
Will a Florida site receive TEACH funding for hosting me?
No. Florida's TEACH program under s. 409.91256 reimburses qualified facilities solely for students enrolled in accredited Florida-based programs. With WilmU based in Delaware, a WilmU placement earns the site nothing under it. Funding depends on appropriation, and the statute sunsets on July 1, 2034.
Does a Florida NP's physician protocol affect my placement?
It shapes how the practice runs, since some Florida NPs practice under a lifelong physician protocol, with exemptions in some cases. For a WilmU placement the tests are a Florida license in a comparable focus, the Delaware Board's preceptor standard and approval by WilmU faculty. The protocol mostly tells you a physician is part of the practice.
Must WilmU get Florida Board approval before my practicum?
Florida's approval statute concerns prelicensure schools operating in the state, and the Board of Nursing's education pages describe the same role. Neither lays out a step for graduate programs from elsewhere. WilmU pledges to respect each state's rules for outside field experiences, and its Online Learning office can confirm the current position.
