Georgia's Board of Nursing keeps post-licensure education, graduate NP programs included, out of its approval work and regulates people instead: students, faculty and preceptors in Georgia all hold a license that reaches Georgia.

Georgia shows Meets Educational Licensing Requirements for all seven WilmU nursing programs listed in the table below. That is WilmU's judgment about the education behind a Georgia license, not about where you may train, and the page shows no date.

No Board approval, but licensure rules for everyone
Post-licensure education, APRN programs included, is simply outside what Georgia's Board approves or regulates, so a visiting school's NP, MSN or RN to BSN students train in Georgia without Board approval. A separate Board line saying no out-of-state or online programs are approved for Georgia clinicals is about prelicensure education, which is not a WilmU offering.
Licensing carries the load. Georgians enrolled with an out-of-state school and training at home need a Georgia license or a multistate license issued by another compact state, and faculty or preceptors teaching in Georgia, whether on site or electronically, are held to that same standard. For post-licensure APRN programs, the Board wants clinical instruction delivered by a nurse authorized as an APRN in Georgia. In Georgia, your APRN preceptor's authorization has to be Georgia's. A strong clinician authorized only in another state does not fit the Board's statement.
Restricted practice and choosing a preceptor
AANP, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, counts Georgia as restricted: a physician delegates to or supervises every NP, and NP prescribing from Schedule II is capped. Read that together with the Board's line on APRN clinical instruction, and the cleanest Georgia match is an NP holding Georgia APRN authorization in your WilmU track's focus.
Delaware's preceptor rule for APRN programs is broader, admitting physicians, PAs and pharmacists alongside APRNs if the focus is comparable, so check with your course faculty before accepting a Georgia arrangement led by a physician or PA. Georgia rewards some preceptors through its Preceptor Tax Incentive Program for unpaid community teaching, which HB 144 revised and extended, with yearly registration from 2026. The credit follows the student, though, and only counts students of Georgia's in-state NP, PA, medical or dental schools, which leaves a WilmU student outside it.
Atlanta and Georgia's other metros
With about 6.5 million people, Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell dwarfs every other Georgia metro. Augusta-Richmond County, which extends into South Carolina, Savannah, and Columbus, whose metro takes in part of Alabama, are the other large ones. Georgia's biggest systems include Emory Healthcare, Northside Hospital, Piedmont Healthcare, Grady Health System and Wellstar Health System.
Each system writes its own terms for students from elsewhere, so use the list as a map, not a promise. A site across the river in South Carolina or Alabama falls under that state's rules, not Georgia's.
Licensing for Georgia clinicals
Georgia's participation in the current Nurse Licensure Compact dates to January 19, 2018. WilmU's clinical rule, current CPR plus RN licensure in the state hosting each clinical, and Georgia's Board land in the same place: a Georgia license, or a multistate one issued by your compact home state. Do I need a Georgia license for WilmU clinicals if I live in Georgia?
Georgia's Board asks for a Georgia license or a multistate license from another compact state; if Georgia is your home state, that is simply your Georgia license. It also matches WilmU's clinical license condition. Keep it active through every practicum.
Does the Georgia Board need to approve WilmU's NP program?
No. Georgia's Board stays out of approving or regulating post-licensure education, APRN programs included, so an NP or MSN program based in another state places Georgia students without its approval. Licensing is its tool instead, for students, faculty and preceptors alike. WilmU's Online Learning office can confirm nothing has changed.
Can a physician precept me for a WilmU practicum in Georgia?
Delaware's rule allows physicians with a comparable practice focus, but for post-licensure APRN programs Georgia's Board wants clinical instruction given by a Georgia-authorized APRN. Before agreeing to a physician-only arrangement in Georgia, ask your course faculty how WilmU reads the two rules together.
Can my Georgia preceptor get a state tax credit for hosting me?
No. Georgia's credit covers preceptors of students in NP, PA, medical and dental programs based in Georgia, and WilmU is based in Delaware. Preceptors teaching Georgia-program students register for it annually, starting in 2026.
