On Wilmington University's State Licensures by Program listing, all seven WilmU nursing programs get a Meets for Nebraska, the undergraduate RN to BSN and the doctoral tracks alike. What WilmU's table says about Nebraska
On WilmU's State Licensures by Program page, every nursing column in Nebraska's row carries the words Meets Educational Licensing Requirements. Each entry settles a licensure question, whether that program's education lines up with the Nebraska license it leads to. The table is silent on clinical placement and admission.

Nebraska's practice law and who can precept
AANP puts Nebraska in its full practice group, with a start-up condition: a newly licensed NP spends a first stretch of 2,000 practice hours alongside a supervising provider. Nebraska clinics therefore mix independent NPs with newer NPs and the providers supervising them.
When we weigh a Nebraska clinician for a WilmU student, we hold them to the Delaware Board's standard for APRN program preceptors: a clinician who is an APRN, PA, pharmacist or physician, whose license is active and unencumbered in Nebraska, and whose practice focus is comparable to your track. For GRN 7121 to GRN 7124 that means family practice across the lifespan; for the PMHNP practicums, psychiatric care. WilmU faculty decide on every preceptor and site.
Nebraska's rule for programs based elsewhere
Nebraska's Board of Nursing is part of the state health department, DHHS, and the department draws a clean line. The Board's approval power covers programs that prepare first-time nurses for the NCLEX, and such a program with students in Nebraska must contact it. Programs for nurses already licensed fall outside it, so a WilmU RN to BSN or graduate APRN clinical meets no Nebraska approval gate.
One Nebraska point concerns faculty, not students. Following NCSBN guidance, DHHS counts a student as practicing wherever that student physically is, and it wants the faculty who teach APRN students there to carry a Nebraska APRN license. That sits with WilmU, and it belongs among the questions for your program chair before your first practicum term.
Where Nebraska NP students look
Census estimates for 2025 put close to 890,000 Nebraskans in the Omaha metro, which reaches into Iowa. Greater Lincoln counts roughly 352,000 people, and the Grand Island area around 78,000. A student living outside those three often weighs driving distance as heavily as specialty.
Among the larger organizations NP students tend to research are Bryan Health, Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health, Children's Nebraska and the Nebraska Methodist Health System. Independent family practices, rural clinics and community health centers belong on the list as well, often as the nearest option for a student far from Omaha or Lincoln.
Your RN license and Nebraska
Two conditions come with every clinical experience in a WilmU NP course: current CPR, and RN licensure valid in whichever state hosts the clinical. Nebraska's membership in the Nurse Licensure Compact took effect January 19, 2018, which means a multistate license issued in Nebraska also carries into the other member states. Nebraska has stayed out of the APRN Compact so far. Utah, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming and Delaware have passed it, and it switches on only after seven states have. After graduation, the Board of Nursing and the DHHS Licensure Unit handle your Nebraska APRN license.

Can I take WilmU's online MSN-FNP while living in Nebraska?
The MSN-FNP is marked as meeting Nebraska's educational licensing requirements on WilmU's licensure table, and so is every other WilmU nursing program. The table covers licensure only and shows no update date, so before you apply, check your plans with the Online Learning office at WilmU.
Does Nebraska make WilmU get approval before my NP clinicals?
No approval step applies. Nebraska's health department limits the Board's program approval to schools whose graduates sit for a first nursing license, and graduate APRN clinicals are post-licensure. Nebraska does want faculty who teach APRN students located in the state to hold its APRN license, which is for WilmU to confirm.
How long before a new Nebraska NP can practice without supervision?
AANP records 2,000 hours of transition practice, overseen by a supervising provider, before a Nebraska NP moves to independent practice. It matters for your first job more than your practicum, so check the current rule with the Nebraska Board of Nursing before you sign an offer.
Can an Omaha physician precept my WilmU family practicum?
Physicians appear on the Delaware Board's list of acceptable APRN program preceptors when their practice focus is comparable to the student's track. WilmU's public pages list no further NP preceptor credentials, so WilmU faculty make the final call on any Omaha clinician before GRN 7121 or a later practicum.
