What NAC 632.703 means for a WilmU clinical
Nevada wrote its rule for visiting schools into NAC 632.703. A school teaching any part of its program in Nevada files the Board's report form with proof of accreditation or approval, shows that it complies with chapter 632, and then sends school reports annually. The code also says a program taught over the internet may not give clinical instruction in Nevada until the Board approves, and that faculty teaching in the state hold Nevada licenses.
WilmU's NP and DNP tracks are graduate programs, and the code never sets graduate programs apart. The Board's September 2026 list of schools from other states cleared to hold only their clinicals in Nevada is made up entirely of pre-licensure programs. How the rule reaches a WilmU NP or DNP practicum is WilmU's to say, which makes it an early question for the Online Learning office. Practice authority and the Board's precepting model
AANP classifies Nevada as full practice. Schedule II prescribing is the early exception, arriving after 2,000 hours or two years of an NP's clinical work, or sooner under a protocol a physician approves.
Precepted clinicals follow a 2005 Board practice decision. Faculty keep direction of the student's clinical learning and remain reachable by telephone, the school equips each preceptor with an orientation and written objectives, and a single preceptor, present in person, handles two students at most. Delaware's Board likewise sees preceptors as extending faculty-directed learning, as our Delaware APRN practice guide sets out.
Where Nevada NP students look
The Census Bureau's 2025 estimate puts roughly 2.4 million people in greater Las Vegas (Henderson and North Las Vegas included), close to 579,000 in the Reno metro and close to 59,000 in Carson City's. The miles between them are long, so a search works best anchored near home, south or north.
Southern Nevada names that come up in NP students' research include the academic medical center known as UMC (University Medical Center of Southern Nevada), plus HCA's Sunrise Health System, Dignity Health (its Henderson and Las Vegas hospitals) and The Valley Health System. Renown Health rounds out the larger systems. PMHNP students heading into GRN 7221 through GRN 7224 can add outpatient psychiatric practices and community behavioral health programs.
Licensing: why a Nevada RN license matters
No bill to join the Nurse Licensure Compact is pending, and Nevada remains a single-state licensing island. One Board practice decision states plainly that any nurse caring for a patient physically in Nevada holds a Nevada license, and it lists nursing education with hands-on patient contact among the covered work. A Utah multistate license, for example, carries no Nevada privilege.

Questions WilmU students ask
Can I study in WilmU's online FNP program from Las Vegas?
On licensure, yes: WilmU's table lists the MSN-FNP, both post-master's NP certificates and the DNP as meeting Nevada's educational requirements. Clinicals are a separate matter, because Nevada regulates online programs teaching clinically inside its borders, so ask WilmU's Online Learning office about Nevada practicums before committing to one.
Will a compact RN license from another state cover a Nevada clinical?
It will not. Nevada is not a compact state, and the Nevada Board reads hands-on patient care during nursing education as practice that needs a Nevada license. Put that beside WilmU's own condition, RN licensure where the clinical occurs, and a Nevada site calls for a Nevada RN license.
What does Nevada expect of a preceptor?
The Board's 2005 practice decision keeps faculty in charge of clinical learning and reachable, has the school orient preceptors and supply written objectives, and limits each on-site preceptor to two students. For a WilmU course, the call on each preceptor still belongs to WilmU faculty.
When can a new Nevada NP prescribe Schedule II drugs?
AANP reports that Nevada NPs hold full practice authority but hold off on Schedule II prescriptions for their first 2,000 hours or two years of clinical work, except under a protocol a physician has approved. That timing belongs to your first job after WilmU, not your practicum.
