Ohio guide for Wilmington University nursing students
Ohio is an easy state on paper for Wilmington University students: WilmU's State Licensures by Program table shows Meets for all seven nursing programs, and Ohio law gives schools from other states no Board of Nursing step before clinicals. What deserves planning is the supervising clinician, because Ohio's exemption for APRN students assumes an APRN overseeing the WilmU student.

WilmU's State Licensures by Program page gives Ohio the status Meets Educational Licensing Requirements in every nursing column. WilmU is telling you the program's education fits the Ohio license at the end of it; the table stays out of clinical logistics and admission, and it carries no update date.

WilmU's NP pages ask future licensees outside Delaware to look up their state before applying, with NC-SARA's Professional Licensure Directory as the starting point. An Ohio resident should still put the question to the NP Program Chair and to WilmU's Online Learning team; the licensure table guide lists the states that differ.
Ohio law and a WilmU student from out of state
A Delaware school like WilmU faces no Ohio Board gate at all. Ohio's Revised Code works from the student's side instead: section 4723.32(F) lets a student in an APRN program practice in Ohio, under that program's auspices, when the course of study readies them for a recognized national certification exam or ends in a qualifying master's or doctorate.
Division (F) pairs that student with an APRN supervisor who serves the program, the statute's three options being faculty, teaching assistant and preceptor. WilmU's home state reads more widely: the Delaware Board lets APRNs, PAs, pharmacists or physicians with a comparable practice focus precept. Reduced practice and what it means for precepting
AANP's map shades Ohio as reduced practice. The key document is the standard care arrangement, which ties an Ohio NP to a collaborating physician or podiatrist for the length of an NP career; Schedule II prescribing also has setting-based limits.
For a student, collaboration means NPs and physicians often work side by side, and a WilmU FNP student in Ohio may see the collaborating physician's role up close even while an APRN signs as preceptor. Asking early how the practice handles that arrangement helps a GRN 7121 rotation start cleanly.
Four big metros and the systems in them
Ohio spreads its population across four large metros rather than one. Columbus, near 2.24 million residents by 2025 Census estimates, edges out Cleveland at about 2.17 million. Cincinnati's metro is bigger than both at 2.31 million, though around 1.76 million of those people live on the Ohio side and the rest in Kentucky and Indiana. The Dayton-Kettering-Beavercreek metro adds some 827,000.
Around Cleveland, WilmU students tend to research Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals; in Columbus, OhioHealth; in Cincinnati, Bon Secours Mercy Health. The compact license in Ohio
Ohio's compact membership is recent: multistate licenses have worked there since New Year's Day 2023. In the Ohio Board's telling, your multistate license comes from your primary state of residence, one credential for every member state, and the Board even reports on nurses practicing in Ohio on compact licenses from elsewhere.

Does Ohio require WilmU to register before NP clinicals in the state?
Not with the Ohio Board of Nursing. Ohio's code skips any school-level filing and exempts the APRN student directly, provided the WilmU student practices under WilmU's auspices with an APRN supervisor serving WilmU. Confirm WilmU's own view with the Online Learning office.
Can a physician precept my WilmU NP clinical in Ohio?
Delaware's Board rule for WilmU's home state includes physicians with a comparable practice focus. Ohio's student exemption, though, names an APRN as the supervisor. With the two rules pointing in different directions, an APRN preceptor is the straightforward choice in Ohio, and any physician preceptor is worth clearing with the NP Program Chair first.
Will my multistate RN license cover an Ohio clinical?
Multistate licenses from other compact states have been valid in Ohio since January 1, 2023. WilmU's own wording asks for RN licensure in the clinical's state, so confirm with the NP Program Chair that your compact privilege satisfies it.
What is a standard care arrangement in Ohio?
It is Ohio's written collaboration document linking an NP with a physician or podiatrist, and AANP notes it runs for the NP's whole career, one reason AANP counts Ohio as reduced practice. It matters most after graduation, but it also explains why many Ohio NP preceptors work closely with a physician colleague.
