WilmU's DNP in Nurse Anesthesiology and the sites it lists
Wilmington University runs its Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesiology with ChristianaCare: 90 credits over nine full-time semesters and more than 2,000 clinical hours. Among WilmU's nursing programs, it alone comes with a published list of clinical sites, and this page walks through that list, the residency courses, the admission items that matter once clinicals begin and the accreditation question.

The program in brief
WilmU and ChristianaCare present the program as the Delaware Nurse Anesthesiology Program, a collaboration between the two. WilmU's November 19, 2025 news item on its accreditation calls it Delaware's first Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesiology program.

- Online coursework combined with in-person classes, skills labs and simulation, with a simulation center available through ChristianaCare.
- "Clinical experiences are planned to begin in the program's second year", in WilmU's words.
- More than 2,000 clinical hours in total, preparing graduates for the National Certification Exam (NCE) for CRNAs.
WilmU's program finder lists the program as a BSN to DNP route in online and hybrid formats. Its clinical courses carry their own NAP numbers, separate from the GRN courses the other DNP routes use.
Clinical courses, semester by semester
The clinical sequence opens with an orientation course in the third semester, and the residencies begin in the fourth, the first term of the program's second year. From there, a residency runs every semester until graduation.

The catalog describes the residencies as using formative and summative evaluation, and NAP 9100 teaches accurate logging of clinical experiences before the first residency starts. Hours per residency course are a question for the program's Director or Assistant Director, who can explain how the 2,000-plus hours are spread across the six residencies.
The clinical sites WilmU lists
WilmU publishes a page of "clinical sites and site coordinators" for this program, and each site on it has its own clinical or co-clinical coordinators, who are CRNAs. The list reads:
- ChristianaCare: Christiana Hospital (Newark, DE) and Wilmington Hospital (Wilmington, DE).
- Nemours: AI duPont Children's Hospital (Wilmington, DE), Deptford Nemours (Deptford, NJ) and Nemours Children's Health, Malvern (Malvern, PA).
- Bayhealth: Kent General Hospital and the Kent Campus surgery center (Dover, DE), and the Sussex Campus hospital (Milford, DE).
- Beebe Healthcare.
- TidalHealth Peninsula Regional (Salisbury, MD).
Together the sites reach all three Delaware counties, with further locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland, and the list includes children's hospitals as well as a surgery center.
This list belongs to the anesthesiology residencies alone. It is not a list of placements for WilmU's FNP, PMHNP or other DNP students, and each of these health systems sets its own intake rules for other programs.
Admission items that matter once residencies begin
WilmU's anesthesiology admission page sets several requirements that carry straight into clinical work.
- An RN license.
- At least one year of full-time critical care experience in the US, with two years preferred.
- BLS and ACLS or PALS, with PALS due before the fourth semester, when the first residency begins.
- CCRN certification.
The application window for the 2028 cohort opens January 4, 2027. Like every graduate student in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, anesthesiology students go through the College's background check and drug screen, handled in its designated credentialing system and paid for by the student.
Across a nine-semester program, renewal dates come around more than once. Keep BLS, ACLS, PALS and CCRN expiry dates on the same calendar as your residencies, which run from the fourth semester to the ninth.
Accreditation and licensure: what WilmU's pages say
WilmU's pages give two answers on accreditation. The program overview, the accreditation page and the November 19, 2025 news item say the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) has accredited the program. The curriculum page's footnote still says the program is in Capability Review and that no students can enroll until initial accreditation. Ask the program which statement is current before you plan around a start date; the accreditation guide covers CCNE and COA together.
The program also has no row in WilmU's State Licensures by Program table, which covers the RN to BSN, BSN to DNP, MSN Leadership, the NP programs and the DNP. If you plan to practice outside Delaware, the Online Learning office handles state authorization questions.
In Delaware, the Board of Nursing recognizes NBCRNA among the national certifying bodies for APRN licensure, and the state's open-data license roster showed 496 active CRNA licenses in September 2026. The Delaware APRN practice page covers the licensure steps after graduation.
How it differs from WilmU's other DNP routes
The anesthesiology DNP shares a degree title with WilmU's other doctoral routes and little else. Set side by side, the differences are practical ones.

What the routes share is the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and its background check and drug screen policy. A published clinical site list, though, is something WilmU offers for this program alone.

Where do WilmU nurse anesthesiology students do their clinicals?
WilmU's site list names ChristianaCare's Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals, three Nemours locations in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Bayhealth in Dover and Milford, Beebe Healthcare and TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland. Each site has its own CRNA clinical or co-clinical coordinators.
When do clinicals start in WilmU's nurse anesthesiology DNP?
WilmU says clinical experiences are planned to begin in the program's second year. NAP 9100 Orientation to Clinical Practice comes in the third semester, and NAP 9101 Clinical Residency I opens in the fourth. Residencies then continue each semester through NAP 9106 in the ninth.
Is WilmU's nurse anesthesiology program accredited?
WilmU's overview, its accreditation page and a November 2025 news item say the COA accredited the program. The curriculum page footnote still describes a Capability Review, with enrollment waiting on initial accreditation. Confirm the current status with the program before applying, and ask which of the two statements is up to date.
How many clinical hours are in WilmU's nurse anesthesiology DNP?
WilmU lists more than 2,000 clinical hours across the program. Hours for each residency course are not broken out on the curriculum page, so the program's Director or Assistant Director is the person to ask how they are spread across NAP 9101 to NAP 9106.
Does the anesthesiology site list help WilmU NP students?
No. WilmU publishes that list for the Nurse Anesthesiology DNP only, and it says nothing about FNP, PMHNP or other DNP practicums.
