What GRN 7124 adds
The 2026-27 graduate catalog lists GRN 7124 as a 4-credit course requiring 225 direct care clinical hours, the fourth and final Family Practicum. It carries the same credits as each earlier practicum with about 29% more hours.
Those 225 hours complete the 750 required in both of WilmU's FNP routes, the master's and the post-master's certificate, a total that equals the Delaware Board of Nursing's minimum for an APRN track. The FNP's 750 hours shows how the four courses add up.
PMHNP certificate students meet the same shape at the end of their sequence: GRN 7224 also carries 225 hours after three 175-hour practicums. The PMHNP practicums covers that track.
Pacing 225 hours
The weekly load depends on a detail WilmU does not publish: the term length of the NP practicums, 15 weeks or 7. Work out both before you ask a preceptor for a schedule. The table shows how long a steady clinic pattern takes to reach 225.

Set that against the term. A 15-week semester averages 15 hours a week, so two clinic days a week clear it with about one spare week; a 7-week block averages about 32, which only a four-day pattern reaches. Reading weeks, holidays and the face-to-face seminars come out of the same calendar.
Build in slack. A preceptor's vacation or a sick week in the final practicum has nowhere to go except past the end of the term.
The preceptor GRN 7124 needs
The last practicum calls for a preceptor with more clinic time and a steady schedule through the final week. Someone who precepts one afternoon a week can serve an earlier course over a long semester but will struggle to reach 225.
The license bar stays where it was. Under Delaware's Board rules, the preceptor is an APRN, physician, pharmacist or PA with an active, unencumbered license and a practice focus that compares with yours, approved by faculty. Ask a prospective preceptor one more question: whether they could add a day late in the term if you fall behind. That answer can decide whether you finish on time.
If your hours run short
Talk to course faculty early. WilmU's catalog allows an I (incomplete) grade only when the instructor has agreed to it beforehand. You then have until a date the instructor sets, at most 60 days past the course's end, before the I turns into an F; only an extension the instructor files with the Registrar inside those 60 days changes that.
The graduate grading table also has IP (course in progress), a grade the catalog keeps for practicums, internships and senior seminars. WilmU's pages do not say when it is used for GRN 7124, so ask faculty which applies to you. Withdrawal is the other route: a timely W carries no GPA cost, while an FA after the deadline counts against the 3.0 you need to graduate.

No incomplete without the instructor's agreement beforehand, so raise a shortfall while there is still time to plan, not in the final week.
After the last hour: certification and licensure
Finishing GRN 7124 completes your clinical hours; graduation also needs a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better. WilmU prepares FNP graduates for national certification through ANCC or AANPCB.
If you will practice in Delaware, the Board's steps follow. You pass national certification, then file the APRN license application in DELPROS no later than two years after graduation, with your school sending the official transcript to the Board. A temporary APRN permit, valid for 90 days and extendable, allows supervised practice before certification but carries no prescriptive authority. Why is GRN 7124 225 hours instead of 175?
WilmU's pages give the number without a reason. Added to the three 175-hour practicums, the 225 brings the total to 750, which is the minimum Delaware's Board of Nursing sets for each APRN track. Older catalogs set lower totals: the 2021-22 edition said 600, the 2024-25 edition 700.
What happens if I don't finish my GRN 7124 hours in time?
Speak to your course faculty before the course ends. An incomplete is possible only if the instructor approves it in advance, with a finish date they set inside 60 days of the course's end, and the catalog's grading table also carries an IP grade for practicums. Which applies to you is faculty's decision.
How many hours a week is GRN 7124?
About 15 a week over a 15-week semester, or about 32 over a 7-week block. WilmU does not publish which format the NP practicums use, so confirm it with course faculty and choose a preceptor whose clinic days could reach the higher figure if the term is short.
Is GRN 7124 the last course in WilmU's MSN-FNP?

Does WilmU's PMHNP certificate have a 225-hour practicum too?
Yes. GRN 7224, the fourth Psychiatric Mental Health Practicum, also carries 225 hours after three 175-hour practicums, for the same 750 total. The first three PMHNP practicums each pair with a didactic course, GRN 7203, GRN 7204 and GRN 7205.
