Wilmington University's licensure disclosure marks New Jersey as Meets for every WilmU nursing program, and five of WilmU's affiliate locations sit in the state. New Jersey is a reduced practice state, where an NP's prescribing rests on protocols kept jointly with a physician collaborator, and it entered the multistate nurse licensing compact in late 2021.

What WilmU's table says about New Jersey
All seven nursing programs on WilmU's State Licensures by Program page read Meets for New Jersey. That is a licensure finding, about whether each program's education fits the New Jersey license it leads to; it names no clinical sites and shows no revision date. For anyone licensing outside Delaware, WilmU's NP pages advise checking the state's rules, and its entry in NC-SARA's Professional Licensure Directory, before you apply; the NP Program Chair and WilmU's Online Learning office can confirm New Jersey for your program.

Reduced practice and who precepts
In AANP's terms New Jersey is reduced practice, since prescribing and ordering devices both depend on protocols an NP maintains with a physician partner. For a preceptor search, the NP you train with works inside such an arrangement, and the physician partner in that practice is a candidate as well.
The Delaware Board recognizes four license types for APRN program preceptors, APRN, physician assistant, pharmacist and physician, and asks for a license that is active, unencumbered and matched to the student's focus. In New Jersey, every clinician we propose also holds a New Jersey license, since the precepting happens there. Family practice across the lifespan suits the FNP practicums, and WilmU faculty decide on each preceptor.
Licensing and New Jersey's rules for visiting programs
The New Jersey Board of Nursing operates within the state's Division of Consumer Affairs. Since November 15, 2021, the state has issued compact licenses, and a multistate license from New Jersey is honored in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania as well. New Jersey has not passed the APRN Compact.
New Jersey's administrative code gives the Board, in chapter 13:37, accreditation rules for programs at institutions licensed in the state, and one section, 1.10(c), covers such a program using a clinical agency outside New Jersey. Nothing there addresses the reverse case, a visiting school's students training in New Jersey, so ask WilmU's Online Learning office what applies before a site is confirmed. Where New Jersey NP students look
North Jersey belongs to the New York-Newark-Jersey City metro, home to the largest share of the state's population, while South Jersey belongs to the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington region that also takes in WilmU's home county. Trenton-Princeton and Atlantic City-Hammonton are the other metros.
Among the large systems are Atlantic Health System, Virtua Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Camden-based Cooper University Health Care and RWJBarnabas Health, each with its own student intake. For nurses near the Gloucester or Cumberland affiliates, Delaware sites across the Delaware Memorial Bridge may be in range too; Delaware's license roster counts 291 active NP license records with a New Jersey address.

Does New Jersey require approval before an out-of-state school's clinicals?
New Jersey's nursing education rules address programs run by New Jersey institutions, including their students' clinicals in other states, and do not describe a step for schools based elsewhere. WilmU's Online Learning office fields state authorization questions, so check with it before a New Jersey placement is set.
