What WilmU's table says about Maryland
Seven programs, seven Meets: that is Maryland's line on WilmU's State Licensures by Program page. It records WilmU's view of whether each program's education fits Maryland's licensing standard, says nothing about clinical locations and carries no date. Before building a Maryland plan, run it past the NP Program Chair and WilmU's Online Learning office, and look Maryland up in NC-SARA's Professional Licensure Directory, as WilmU's NP pages advise.

Enrollment itself is straightforward: Maryland's higher education commission waives its registration step for colleges taking part in SARA, and Delaware approved WilmU's participation. The full licensure table shows every other state.
Precepting in a full practice state
AANP classes Maryland as full practice, with one added step for newly certified NPs: a declared 18-month mentorship, with either a certified NP or a physician as mentor. NP-run clinics therefore belong in a Maryland search alongside physician groups.

What Maryland's Board says about visiting programs and graduates
Maryland's Board of Nursing approaches schools from other states through licensure: its education pages give applicants a substantial-equivalency assessment tool, plus two rosters of prelicensure programs from elsewhere, one approved and one not. What it expects before a visiting program's clinicals is a question for WilmU's Online Learning office.
Maryland's Nurse Practice Act spares graduate APRN students in accredited programs from holding a Maryland license for the advanced practice work their program assigns (Health Occ. §8-301); WilmU still asks for RN licensure in the clinical's state, so ask the NP Program Chair whether the exemption changes anything. The Board also signs off on an NP program before any of its graduates is certified in Maryland, and when a program is absent from that list, the school handles the form, not the graduate.
Where Maryland students look
Most Marylanders live around Baltimore or in the Washington suburbs, with Lexington Park and Hagerstown as smaller metros. Its big systems, among them MedStar Health, Luminis Health, LifeBridge Health, UMMS and Johns Hopkins Medicine, each describe student intake in their own way.
On the Eastern Shore, TidalHealth in Salisbury asks for a preceptorship request form 90 or more days before an NP, PA or CRNA student's start date; TidalHealth then finds the provider if it has room and asks students to leave its providers uncontacted. WilmU lists TidalHealth Peninsula Regional as a clinical site for the Nurse Anesthesiology DNP only. Clinicians straddle the line, too: 472 active Delaware NP license records list a Maryland address.
Maryland's NP preceptor tax credit
Under Tax-General §10-739, Maryland rewards unpaid precepting of NP students with an income tax credit, open to NPs and to physicians. To qualify, the clinician hosts at least three community-based rotations, 90 hours apiece at minimum, in a place the state health department has named short of health care workers, and the preceptorship must carry Board approval. Credits are capped per preceptor and statewide each year, and the section runs through June 30, 2030.
The statute speaks of students in a program the Maryland Board recognizes, so preceptors should check eligibility with the health department before counting on it. What hosting a WilmU student involves is on our preceptor page.

Questions WilmU students ask
Does my Delaware RN license work for a Maryland practicum?
A multistate Delaware license reaches into Maryland, because the two states share the compact. A single-state license issued by Delaware stays valid only in Delaware. Check which type you hold, then ask the NP Program Chair to confirm WilmU accepts it for a Maryland clinical.
Is WilmU authorized to enroll Maryland residents online?
Maryland asks colleges based elsewhere to register before enrolling its residents online, and it exempts institutions approved for SARA. Delaware approved Wilmington University for NC-SARA, which covers that step. Licensure is a separate question, answered program by program on WilmU's own table.
Could my Maryland preceptor qualify for the state tax credit?
The credit is open to NPs and physicians hosting NP students without pay, once they complete at least three qualifying community-based rotations in a shortage area the state designates. Because the law refers to programs the Maryland Board recognizes, your preceptor should confirm with the state health department whether your WilmU program qualifies.
Can WilmU's MSN-FNP get me certified as an NP in Maryland?
WilmU's table gives the MSN-FNP a Meets for Maryland, which is WilmU's own licensure finding. Separately, the Maryland Board certifies graduates only from NP programs it has approved, and the school supplies the paperwork for an unlisted one. If Maryland is your destination, ask WilmU about the Board's list early.
